Sequencing batch airlift reactors (SBAR): a suitable technology for treatment and valorization of mineral oil wastewaters towards lipids production

چکیده

Produced water (PW) and spent oil-based wastewaters are some of the largest mineral oil produced. Due to high toxicity hydrocarbons, several countries set stringent discharge limits its treatment is compulsory before discharge. In this work, biological coupled with production bacterial lipids demonstrated in sequential batch airlift reactors (SBAR). Two SBAR (2 L working volume) were used for PW lubricant-based wastewater (LW), inoculated Alcanivorax borkumensis SK2 (SBARAb+PW) Rhodococcus opacus B4 (SBARR.o+LW), respectively. A total petroleum hydrocarbon removal (TPH) efficiency up 96% 80% achieved SBARAb+PW SBARR.o+LW, Intracellular increased when lower TPH/N ratios higher feast stage duration applied (up 0.74 g g-1 cell dry weight (CDW)), whereas SBARR.o+LW was observed (0.94 CDW). Triacylglycerols (TAG) main intracellular lipid accumulated both operations, while wax ester (WE) only extracellularly SBARAb+PW.

Sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and sequencing batch airlift reactor (SBAR) with the formation of aerobic granules

This research examined novel configuration of SBAR in lab-scale for industrial wastewater treatment. To evaluate COD removal efficiency and granules formation of the novel reactor (R1), SBAR system (R2) was operated under similar conditions during the experimental period. R1 and R2 with working volume of 3.6 and 4.5 L were used to cultivate aerobic granules. Both reactors were operated for 4 hr...

Benchmarking Sequencing Batch Reactors for Wastewater Treatment

A benchmark for the test of control scenarios of sequencing batch reactors (SBR) used for wastewater treatment is proposed. The plant layout includes a buffer tank for wastewater storage in front of the SBR. Performance criteria based mainly on the quality of the effluent are given. The use of the benchmark is illustrated by the study of the effects on the effluent of the control of dissolved o...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Comparison of technical and economic efficiency of extended aeration and sequencing batch reactors processes in hospital wastewater treatment

Wastewater of hospitals can cause many risks to public health due to having a variety of pathogenic microorganisms, pharmaceutical substances, and other hazardous toxic substances. The aim of this study was to evaluate the chemical quality of effluents from wastewater treatment plant of Falsafi Hospital and Hakim Jorjani Hospital in Gorgan, Iran, and to compare them technically and economically...

Evaluation of sequencing batch reactor performance for petrochemical wastewater treatment

Sequencing batch reactor (SBR) technology has found many applications in industrial wastewater treatment in recent years. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal time for a cycle of the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and evaluate the performance of a SBR for petrochemical wastewater treatment in that cycle time. The reactor was operated with a suspended biomass configuration under ae...
